My interest in art was piqued through the theory of impressionism and expression... two characteristics that I really try and bring into all of my paintings. 

 

In my matric year, my final painting was chosen to be displayed and exhibited at the Durban Art Gallery in 1999.  After graduating from high school, I studied under renowned South African artist, Shirley Howells while attending college and working part-time.  I found great satisfaction in the art world when I was asked to teach the children of Marianhill Monastery, in South Africa - I taught the students many simple, yet still expressive ways to produce works of fineart, utilizing only inexpensive tools and materials.

 

I emigrated to Canada in 2001 and have since attended several workshops in Ontario under artists such as; Susan Benson and Miriam Isherwood.  I have entered a number of juried art shows, such as the Welland Rose Juried Art Show on three separate occasions.  In 2008 where I won first place in the ‘Drawing’ category, in 2009 I was awarded first and second place in the ‘Painting’ category, and recently in 2014, where I received the ‘People’s Choice’ award and honoury mention.

In 2010, I became a member of the Niagara District Art Association (NDAA), and exhibited paintings in 2011 and 2012 with the NDAA.  In 2011,

I received the ‘Best in Show’ award, and in 2012, the award for ‘Best Wildlife’. 

 

I went on to exhibit my work at the Romney House Art Gallery in Niagara Falls, studying under renowned local artist, Maria Klokkou.  Here is where I had enormous success and became recognized and known within the Niagara region for my African wildlife paintings.

 

I continue to show my art work at exhibitions and to do private commissions. 

I welcome the opportunity to display my artwork through festivals, juried art shows and within the privacy of my own home.

 

I have donated various original art works for silent auctions; benefiting local charities such as Project Share, Third Space Cafe, United Way and Hannah’s House in Niagara Falls, and many others in the Niagara Region.
